What a storming gig!
That was a great night! All the bands involved played the best sets I've ever seen them do. Maybe it was because being a covers night, all the material sounded familiar, but each band played in their own style & put in 110% effort.
Stelvis started the night off around 8:15 and boy was Stel on form! His vocals get stronger every gig. Apparently the current line up had only been together for about a week but they gelled together perfectly. The boys need to learn the art of 'stage-craft' between songs so their set flows from one song to another, but apart from that they provided an excellent opening set.
Stel announced the next band up were Formally Butt Lane, but Danny Hughes couldn't wait to launch into his axe attack & so 'The Mind Shafts' quickly took to the stage with their tight performance of some classic covers.
Formally Butt Lane eventually got on stage around 9:30 and by this time the place was really buzzing and a good crowd had started fill the place. I've seen 'Butt Lane' about half a dozen times now but this was their best set ever. The musicianship & vocal harmonies are brilliant and their choice of songs attracted a large crowd onto the dance floor. Gav treated us all to his 'Chippendale's' routine when the shirt came off!
Smoking Gun played for Muso's for the first time since the carnival & proved again that 'Snake' is one of the best rock guitarists ever to come out of this area (& Mondo is one of the worst keyboard players ). The guys treated us to a set of classic covers ranging from 'Status Quo' to 'Tempole Tudor'.
Headlining the night were one of Warsops best loved bands, Ferocious Dog. The dance floor was heaving to every song & the crowd joining in with Kenny's vocals. Brad & Dave worked together well as a very tight rhythm section & Brad played some complicated drum patterns exceptionally well for such a young performer. ( I can't remember if they played 'Danny Boy' or not! )
In my opinion, the venue is probably the best in Warsop for this type of event, The stage is big enough for band change-overs without people squeezing past the back line, and has enough height for the lighting rigs & monitors on stage.
Thanks to Alex for helping me set up & operate the lighting rig (I'll make a Jedi out of him yet!) And once again, a big thanks to Dave Drury & all the other Muso's for making these events happen!
Keep it live!

ps. I got some good photo's of the night so I'll put them on the Muso's site asap.
Now lets hear what you thought of the event!
