We're about to start planning the next Muso's gig sometime in August.
This thread is for you to tell us what you like or don't like about our shows.
Which bands should we have on next? How many bands at a time do you prefer? Which venue should we use? What night of the week is best? Should we put on more / less gigs?
Let us know your views here

Have been to most of the Muso's gigs so far & enjoyed them all.
I think it's better when each band gets around half an hour each - eg., starting at 8pm, for 5 or 6 bands, on either a Friday or Saturday night.
The Legion is a good venue when you put on "older " bands as they attract a large varied audience. I think the younger ones are better when they all play together, and for these bands, I prefer The Plough as the venue (as on 21st May). I'm presuming the younger audience would be allowed in (as they were in May).
I think a gig about every 6 weeks would do well. Then for special events like the run up to Christmas/carnival. etc, they could become more frequent and of mixed musical genres (as on the St George's Day gig on 23rd April which was really well supported).
Gig dates around Bank Holidays are always a bit risky what with holidays, etc.
Well that's my opinion - but hey what do I know - I couldn't organise a p.. up in a brewery!! Looking forward to the August gig, but we're on hols in late August - so might have to miss this one!

Thanks for starting the ball rolling mrspat, appreciate your view and agreed with your points. I'm off on hols late Aug as well.
I've been approached by a football club to do a joint effort at one of the clubs on probably Sat 20th August. They've asked for Ferocious Dog to headline (there's no accounting for taste!!) plus 5 or 6 of the other bands. We'll probably give the young bands a rest at this one and like you said approach the Plough for a re-run of the 21st.
Thanks again for your contribution, spread the word and keep em coming

I really enjoy going to and taking part in muso's gig... gives a real buzz, especially with the warsop crowd! ;D I think the next gig should be all the younger bands getting a half hour slot each or something like that. Also you should try fitting Dementia in the next line-up! The best night of the week has to be saturday night! I also feel that there should be around 2 gigs a month or once fortnightly or something (asking for a lot but think of the money you would make lol) Thanks! DEANO P.S put Metal Halo in the next line-up too... simply cos they rule!

I think the next gig should be all the younger bands getting a half hour slot each or something like that. Err... Same as last time then? I also feel that there should be around 2 gigs a month or once fortnightly or something (asking for a lot but think of the money you would make lol) Just like to point out that Muso's is a voluntary non profit organisation & where-ever possible the events we stage are free entry. When an entry fee is charged all profits are put towards staging the larger events.

o ok soz.
Yea like the last 1... but thats just my opinion and u did ask for our opinions. I just feel that it should be the younger ones again because there is a big crowd for the younger ones as the families, friends and fans turn up to see them play! ...and of course, the moshers and headbangers at the front of the stage! ;D lol

You have to bear in mind that the bands need time in between gigs to write new material or practise covers. I know writing new stuff is time consuming (I know this first hand as our 15 yr old is at it every night and every spare moment, picking and shredding!). Like I said previously, I enjoy seeing the younger bands at the smaller venues as I think there's more of an atmosphere and a lot of crowd participation with moshing, etc. I think a gig every 2 weeks would be a bit too frequent (I know someone who will disagree here!)- but there are about 24 different bands listed on the back of the Muso's T shirt so if you had 6 bands on every 4 weeks, or vice versa, then all the bands would get a chance to play old and new stuff.

The Workmens would be an ideal venue. Went to a gig there at the end of last year (one band only) - and although there were quite a few people in there - as it's so big, the place looked half empty. Maybe it'd be a good idea to do a mixed age gig - young 'uns and old 'uns - so that everybody would come & support them all, which would make for a great atmosphere. (The place is quite smart now it's been done up and it's got a very big stage).

i think the next gig should be at the workmens because it has a good stage and a bigarea for people to watch. i think gigs should be at least once a month cause then it gives bands time to work on new metarial. NADEEM (BASSIST OF SOVEREIGN)

Ok based on your feedback the proposal is for a gig per month at one of the bigger clubs + smaller pub gigs in between, say once a fortnight.
Let me know if you think this will work

I had a thought possibly of an evening with Peacock page. With as many of the various people who have played in the mighty page doing the songs. Just a thought. Any chance of some more dance music? Or possibly some hard house and trance. It's what all the young people and my dad are listening to. . If you want chips and no one else can help. Maybe you can find the blue ocean.

Its a great idea what your doing. 5 or 6 bands enables a big crowd to turn up and possibally £couple of quid on the door enables bigger and better things to go on. You could use my bass amp aswell its very METAL!!!!! cheers
